Magazines what do you buy? & Content 'v' Volume & Best Value

Good Afternoon HHO

I am sure we all have purchased a magazine at some point; either a 'ooo I quite fancy a read' or on a subscription basis. I had a moment of 'ooo' earlier and purchased a copy of a leading name of magazine, on picking up said magazine it felt thick and therefore I assumed I would be getting Best Value. I undertook a little analysis of the magazine to better understand the Content 'v' Volume:

166 nr pages in total
32 nr pages allocated to a specific advert which could be obtained for FREE elsewhere
27 pages of adverts
4 pages of averts for the magazine itself
2 pages of classifieds
3 pages of horse adverts
11 pages of product placement [by this I mean Win This / Tested etc ...]
Producing a total of 87 pages of content including F&B cover, indexes etc ...

An average of 4.9 nr pages between adverts; 9 being the highest and 1 the lowest.

Yes I may becoming across like the Victor Meldrew of the magazine purchasing world, yes I should have had a flick though and yes I should not assume BUT at £3.99 and over 50% of adverts - do we not deserve better?

What defines your purchasing style and do you feel you are getting best value?

*grumble over*
